Paris en Scène

A bateau mouche sits docked on the river on a cloudy afternoon

I would love to take credit for the pun of my post's title; however, that's what the sign on the boat reads. I am currently procrastinating finishing my architecture homework, hence I am posting some more photos.

La Lumiere

Museum visitors at the Musée d'Orsay

It seems every time I find myself in Paris there is a complication with the Musée d'Orsay. Last time Van Gogh's Room at Arles was in Japan, now the museum is under major renovation, which won't be finished until 2011. Still, the museum remains one of my favorite places of Paris: it houses my favorite art and the architecture is quite unique, a must see if you're ever in the city.

I first took a version of this photo when I was in Paris a few years ago. I then saw a similar photo in The Week in Pictures on msnbc.com from the Apple store here. I thought to myself, "damn! I took that already! I could've been featured!" Looking back on that experience made me realize that I am on my way; instead of second guessing myself, like I had all last semester, I've accepted my eye and the images that it produces. I am proud of myself, I see a visual future.

Think(er)ing

Rodin's Thinker

I know it's cheesy, but I felt the photo fit. As the title of the post may have given away, I've been doing a lot of thinking recently.

I'm more than halfway done with my program here, a realization I can't even begin to accept. I cannot believe I've lived here over two months, there's so much I still feel like I haven't done. Sadly, I don't think it is possible to do everything here in four months, there is just so damn much. This experience has pretty much convinced me that I want to come back and live here. And while my parents will hate me for saying it, I could honestly see myself in Paris permanently. It's hard to explain how much I love it; again, cheesy, but words cannot describe it. Even the Parisian air makes me happy.
